Dear friends and supporters: After a year and a half of struggle I was finally able to get my land transfered over to the Redwood Forest Institute whose mission has been to - To preserve and restore our redwood forest to where it was prior to the original logging at the turn of the century. In the past 50 years the change from a clearcut devastated forest has been simply remarkably into what is now a beautiful setting for public enjoyment. With a continuance of our forest management plan, it is anticipated that in 50 years here will be at least 40 thousand redwoods and Douglas fir trees over 5 foot in diameter and 250 foot tall creating the most awesome 400 acre park like setting in Mendocino County.
- Education in Sustainable life style skills, it is anticipated, if finding can be found to restore the Sustainable Lifestyle Skills Seminars that have been so successful in the past to teach the skills to become sustainable in food production, food processing, animal husbandry, etc, constructions skills, including building with stone, wood working, concrete and steel. and how to become financially self sustaining utilizing the available natural recourses. and have the skills to produce salable products.
- Recreation - this 400 acre special place with the Northfork of the Noyo River running through offers a special place for a safe, quiet get away from the hustle of every day living in commune with nature at its best, especially for those living in populated urban area.
Going forward the issue is going be finding the right stewards of the land and most importantly funding to carry froward these programs for the benefit of future generations. Funding will help us speed up the process but as we have done in he past we will move forward with whatever funding we are able to find to help us to survive and more importantly more forward at whatever pace we can afford. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPSORTE THIS CAUSE WITH SIGNING OF PETIONS, WRITING LETTERS IN SUPPORT OF OUR CAUSE AND CONTRIBUTING FUNDS FOR THIS WORTHY PROJECT. BEST WISHES AND KINDEST REGARDS FROM CHARLES AND VANNA RAE BELLO THE FOUNDERS OF THE REDWOOD FOREST INSTUTE 43 YEARS AGO.
